“Vintage”
I wanted to design a one skein shawl that was made up of simple lace style stitches that once blocked opens up to make a shawl that looks far more complicated than it actually is.
My inspiration for it is the dress that Claire in Outlander wears to the Governors dinner, where a small feminine shawl over her shoulders may have been a welcome addition to her attire and also all the beautiful dresses worn by the wealthy in the 1700s.
Whist not completely the same on both sides, the design allows the shawl to be worn with either side facing depending on preference.
It would be a perfect addition to any modern evening or ball gown dress, as well as across the shoulders of a bride standing at the altar, with the range of luxury hand dyed yarn to choose from, a stunning piece can be created.
Approx Overall Yarn Used 400m on needles 3.75mm, 4mm and 5mm
It’s been inspired by my love of Outlander, the Scottish Highlands and historical clothing and textiles.
