“Mountain Garden”

This cowl is worked back and forth and then worked in the round to finish.

The cable pattern that I’ve used is a simple repeat that is perfect for a first try at cables as its only one cable row in the repeat and is on big needles which makes it easy to master.

It has been created as part of an Outlander knit along and my inspiration has come from the vision of seeing the men and women of the ridge working the land and this cowl aiding warmth and comfort while they do so in all the elements of the area.

It is a unisex design.

Approx Overall Yarn Used Aran 246m and Chunky 111m on 8mm and 9mm needles

I have created it in aran that’s held double, but the directions are also suitable to be made in a chunky weight yarn as seen in the brown example in the photographs.


It’s been inspired by my love of Outlander, the Scottish Highlands and historical clothing and textiles.
