“Ribbons & Plans”
For this shoulder cape I have used yarns that have a soft textured appearance rather than a yarn that gives a stitch definition finish.
The pattern contains the yarns that I have used for both examples, one being a commercial dyed yarn and the other a hand dyed Boucle yarn that I have held together with a dk contrasting coloured weight yarn.
It’s a simple design with a gently scalloped edge, full back and ties to the front.
A perfect cover up cape for a wedding, ball or party, alternatively it could be worn with a casual top and your favourite pair of jeans.
Its vintage style is in keeping with period drama costumes and historical clothing.
I hope that whatever yarn or colour you chose you enjoy the making and wearing of this design.
I have called it Ribbons & Plans after the shawl worn in the Outlander series whilst Claire is trying to lay markers to escape Castle Leoch, and uses a ribbon to do so.
It’s been inspired by my love of Outlander, the Scottish Highlands and historical clothing and textiles.
Approx Yarn Used 560m of chunky yarn I have used Boucle yarn for texture.
