Ships Timbers Shawl. DK Knitting Pattern

Ships Timbers
I wanted to create a pattern for a shawl in dk weight yarn that told a story of an 18th century ship.
The spine of the shawl is detailed in its stitching to represent the ships mast and the top of the shawl is worked to appear as the ships rigging by using dropped stitches.

The first stripe section is the ships timbers within the waterline with its straight lines telling the story of the many planks that were crafted into shape.

The final border is of course the sea and adding the picot cast off allows the picture of waves to finish the piece.

I carefully chose my colours and used hand dyed yarn, if you want to use the yarn colours shown, the details are given in the pattern requirements.

Approx Overall Yarn Used 500m on 4.5mm needles

The pattern can obviously also be created with any other yarn of the same meterage.
This is a simple knitted piece but will need some experience to finish with the picot edging and dropping of stitches.

Its been inspired by my love of Outlander and the Scottish Highlands.

This listing is for the KNITTING PATTERN only and not the finished garment.

It’s a pattern suitable for all abilities.
